software is any photo package.. i'd recommend adobe photoshop but everyone has their own preference.. but why go the software route.. some blue material is ok.. and for cars id suggest a green screen not blue due to the colour of the sky. but a greenscreen on a piece of cardboard put accross the win...

dvdx is pretty good if you dont use the internal encoder. its a lot beter to export using a frameserver (false avi) to another decoder such as tmpgenc or cce or panasonic mpeg1. but i would only use dvdx if you are short on hdd space as there are many other better rippers out there but these require...
