PYRO! Easy shell hit tutorial

Hey! OutcastJiob and I were playing with fire and created a realistic shell hit that can be done at home with consumer products. We filmed the resulting explosion and it will be here soon. (Can someone tell me the best codec to use? As a DV avi it is 19 mb :P). The first step is to get a small 12 or...

Allright, first off, de-interlace your footage. Thats why it looks like someone took a rake to your film when things are moving fast. Secondly, your news reporter needs to enunciate more clearly. Listen to the news, and try and imiate the way they talk. Other than a few other volume issues it looks ...

Hmm...well, one of the makers of "Dead Conspiricy" said that he did the slides completely in AE. I asked him about that but he didnt respond. It would be a lot easier to do in AE if possible...what about frames though? I know if the slide goes too fast or slow it will look fake. What is yo...

Moving Gun Slides in After Effects

Hey, I would like to know if anyone can suggest the best method for making a pistol slide move with every shot. I know it can be done by taking a freeze fame into Photoshop, but I have heard someone mention doing it just in After Effects. Does anyone know about this? Also, how many frames should a s...

Yeah, OutcastJiob and I bought After Effects 5.5 from ebay for $157...the new price from adobe is $600. Not a bad price reduction. It is worth spending a decent amount on your editing software, trust me. The results are better. Splurge a little bit on this and you won't regret it. Also, you could sp...

Ok...wait. The terrorists find out about the government sponsored drug and volunteer to take it...then start beating the place up. Dont bother with the scientist finding out that they are terrorists and trying to give an antidote. Just have them suddenly start beating the heck out of the research bu...

Yeah, if you are going to do the Home Guard, make sure they seem serious about the cause...though they were serioulsy underfunded, they fully expected Hitler to invade. Also, make your charachters obviously too old or too young for regular military service as these were the people who served in the ...

I used AfterEffects. For me, I cant stand doing it in photoshop! I hate having to export frame, which inevitable renders that frame different from all the others (because when I export frame, you are, in my case, compressing it, and changing aspect. Happens to me all the time > : ( Can you please t...

The best place I have found for muzzle flashes is http://www.detonationfilms.com , which has been mentioned elsewhere on this site. Avaliable for download are flashes from different angls on a black background which can be added to your footage using the screen or lighten transfer mode in most film ...

I wouldn't use AirSoft... my experiences include the projectile tending to skew off in random directions... If you use an airsoft gun that can fire metal bb's it is less likely to have this effect and is more accurate than the slingshot so less likely to hurt anyone. You could also use strafe foota...

Would you recommend keeping the DV footage at 720 x 480 or blowing it up to 1440 x 960 in After Effects? Doubling it and softening still looks good, so we were wondering if that would give us an advantage when it comes to theatre screening.
