RE: The buildup
3 Inches of Blood and Trivium eh? Haha, nice mix (love 3IOB's new album).
It dragged significantly I think. The payoff was great but you could have cut it down by one or two minutes and gotten the same effect.

RE: The buildup
ya thats what some people at the little movie fest I took it to last night were saying, so I'll probably go back and take out a bit, though I know that it really starts to lag in the long shot so its going to be intersting to work it down a bit.

Anybody anything any critisisms? Anyone.....anyone....buler?
RE: The buildup
It was nice... until that zoom in. Why, foxwood, why??
Shots are to long and more close ups would be nice. The beginning is quite well edited and then (after this tragic zoom) it looks like you was to lazy to shoot enough footage from different setups.
Exposure - why it was set on background? I don't want se the street. I want to see an actor.
Slow motion doesn't fit. It should increasing tension in most dramatic moments. In culmination.
Don't use zoom, young padawan, you're not ready yet.

RE: The buildup
the bad use of over style was the point of the movie, kind of the punch line when it lead to nothing at the end, and near the end I didn't get lazy I moved to longer shots to go for that bit of style as well.

Watch again and if you still don't know why - don't use zoom either.

RE: Re: RE: The buildup
I thought it was good. The fact that the exposure is set to the sky adds a cinematic flair to it - as you cannot see the face it adds a mysterious dimension to it. The zoom is rather cheesy - like a low budget 70s movie - but that was likely the effect you wanted.
So good job on being able to replicate the feel of a silly 70's action movie...a bit bumpy in parts but definitely not nearly as bad as santi makes it out to be.

I'm going to guess it had to do with the slight pause and the fact that it was a handheld shot. That would be my guess.santi wrote:Watch again and if you still don't know why - don't use zoom either.
