hey i know how to texture a mesh in blender3d so it looks like glass but i was wondering how can you do an effect of it smashing?
RE: 3d glass
No. You could get the model, get the reflections u need on it, export it on a keyable background, put it in after effects then use the shatter, thats all i know.

I don't know if Blender has dynamic simulations but what rhys said is a good option. Or you you get 3DS Max and shatter it in there. You can use particle system to smash it or use reactor simulator. I know I know. Shameless 3DS Max plug lol
